It is hard to be IT in non-tech companies. Adapting modern IT methodology to fit a non-tech company a is a process, and the steps taken to move to it tend to involve individuals rather than whole groups. This talk presents five points of focus in turning IT departments from "cost-centers" to partners in progress. In addition to these, I also include a discussion on productivity measurements that business managers crave but are so hard to define. These focus points and measurements are developed from 12 years in the IT world in both freelance and as an IT manager.
