In this video we take a look at the FIRMA sneak peak demo for the Oculus rift DK2.

The Firma demo gives you a sneak peek at the flight mechanics of the game with a collection of missions and tasks taking place on the toasty surface of mars.

The game runs well with the DK2 and it's yet another demonstration of how well cockpit space games work with the Rift. You really do feel as if you are inside a vehicle peering out over an alien world.

If you enjoyed lunar flight then I'd certainly recommend trying FIRMA. Though more arcade in its presentations and physics it very much has the same experiential feel to it which can only be a good thing !

The FIRMA demo will be out next week at which point we will post a link to the download and you can then review it for yourself !

Once again its time to jump in and try some Pcars, this time we take a look at the Caterham Superlight R500 at the world famous Brands Hatch Circuit !

To keep the video from dragging on we will be doing two normal laps followed by one drift (ish) lap.

keep in mind that Pcars is still in development with release looking to be some time around fat man down the chimney day and as always this is more just a casual pootle to see how things are progressing with one specific car.

We are also taking the opportunity to use this video to test some quality setting changes for you-tube, With any luck things will come out all nice shiny and smooth.

The latest version of Elite dangerous is now available to play for those of you with beta access to the title.

Importantly the game now works far better with the Oculus Rift DK2, running with the latest run-time users no longer have to fiddle to simply run the game.

The inclusion of more graphical options and better optimizations have also gone a long way to make playing Elite on the DK2 far more enjoyable.

From E:D Website

Beta 2.0 introduces a host of additional features including; combat pilot ratings, reputations, many new ship modules & weapons to outfit, ship wear & tear, optional tutorials and pre-flight control checks plus in-game GalNet news reporting.

Over 500 star systems, detailed systems maps, exploration gameplay, the new Lakon Asp Explorer, Outposts and Ocellus starports.

Many other improvements and optimizations including additional rock, ice and metal-rich planetary rings, new music and SLI/Crossfire support which allows play in 4k ultra-high definition.

Euro Truck simulator 2 now has Oculus rift DK2 support so we jump in along with all the sim gear and see what things are like !

Virtual reality seems to be coming ever closer with the arrival of the Oculus rift development kit 2. We now get a chance to experience VR with full head tracking, less screen door and with far more detail due to the 1080p screen built into the device.

It has to be said the DK2 is still very much a development device, its not the most comfortable thing to ware and its not a 100% seamless user experience, but with a small bit of polish the consumer oculus is likely to blow our trousers off !

Euro truck simulator 2 works really well with the device , looking and moving around the cabin is an incredible experience in and of itself and the sense of 3D is mind-blowing. Menus however can be a bit of a pain to navigate and there seem to be some issues with stutter and blur which no doubt will be fixed in the long term.

As a taster of what is to come in the next year or so the DK2 makes me more happy than ever to be a gamer, geek and sim fan !

BUCKLE UP VR IS COMING !
