JavaScript frameworks are great, but they tend to force you into a certain structure that might not work for your application. They also include a lot of functionality (i.e. bloat) that you'll never use. Often what you need isn't a framework, but individual libraries that make it easier to build your application the way you want.
Ampersand.js offers exactly that. It's not a framework; it's a toolkit comprised of small, focused modules that you can use and organize however you wish. Mix and match components, from Ampersand or elsewhere, in the way that works best for your app. Use all the components or use only one. It's completely up to you.
